I really like the concept of these, I found them a bit quirky, took a few tries to get the correct o ring for my bars.. I found that they can get a bit dislodged when hit, but that sorta makes sense as something rigid maky not work. I bought three sets, of the only one is still intact, one had the spreaders/clamping device break and another fellout, luckily I found it… I would say they are worth the cost, but, you might need to be careful with them.. Kind of defeats the purpose. Finally, Cane Creek makes great stuff, I have headsets, BB’s a fork all perfoming flawlessly.

I have been using the original Ergo Control bar ends on my touring bike for about 10 years, they are finally starting to wear out after 50,000 plus kilometers.
I was super excited to see these bar ends reissued because I am about to start a 2 year bike tour around the world.
I received a set of the new version today and can only give them 3 stars...
They have a different shape than the originals.
The new ones are very squared off on the outside of the palm, unlike the originals which contoured off softly downward.
The new finish is ok, I have to try them for a while to see if they are as comfortable and durable as the old ones.
If you know Oury grips, then that describes the tactile feel of the old ones, sticky without being sticky if you know what I mean.
Now for the worst part... the "universal lock system" simply means no lock system. The originals mated with locking grips which had the double lock system or you could simply put them next to any grips you happened to be using.
The new version doesn't have any mating lock system, so if you use grips that have a double lock, you will have to have a ring between the grip and the bar end. That is a bit disappointing.
The new Ergo Control bar ends are still the best bar ends of this type on the market, but missing some of the great features of the originals. Too bad...
