Thudbuster ST

Suspension Seatpost

The latest generation Thudbuster ST is superior to its predecessor in every way.  Building on Thudbuster’s proven parallel linkage technology we have completely re-designed the seatpost for increased durability, a higher rider weight limit, and additional suspension travel, as well as ease of use through tool-free elastomer change and a single-bolt seat clamp design.

By improving on this already legendary design, we’re confident to say that the newest generation Thudbuster is the most advanced suspension seatpost ever made.

Accessibility

Thudbuster ST is now able to support riders up to 330lbs (150kg) and incorporates a tool-free, interchangeable elastomer system to quickly and easily adjust the seat post for a variety of rider weights.

Parallel Linkage Design

The Thudbuster Parallel Linkage technology stays in the direct path of the natural travel of the rear wheel. As a bump lifts the back of a bicycle, the rear wheel pushes up and forward into the rider. The Thudbuster works by compressing along the exact opposite path — down and rearward — absorbing force at the same rate. This results in a natural suspension feel without being overly active, and allows for more travel without compromising pedaling position.

The greatest compliment I can give a bicycle component is “I don’t think about it.” This is my second bike with a Thudbuster and it just plain works, every time, without fail. That’s why I don’t have to think about it. It’s a rare attribute for products to possess, and, for me at least, Cane Creek has done that repeatedly now. Well done Cane Creek crew!

Being an older (61) recreational rider, I was hesitant and skeptical that I would benefit from a product like the Thudbuster ST … but I’m glad I decided to get one. I ride 2-4x per week, 20-30 miles per ride.
I’ve been using the medium elastomer (based on my current weight) and it absorbs that ‘hard bounce’ from potholes, speed bumps, curbs, etc in a subtle way. It’s hard to imagine how a little ‘damping’ improves the overall comfort of the ride. I wish I had purchased one sooner.

I have a Trek Dual Sport 4, no rear suspension. I enjoy riding easy/intermediate trail, gravel, and pavement. A lower back injury restricted me to only pavement, so I was considering replacing it with a full suspension mtn bike when a friend suggested a Thudbuster (funny mtn bike salesman didn’t mention as option). Gave it a try. Shazam, back riding trails with a smile.

Once the clamps are hold in place together by the seat, the clamps cannot be rotated anymore to adjust seat angle position. The whole clamp needs disassembly and the clamps need to be forced out of the frame by hammering from the other side since you cannot untighten them by hand or any other mechanism. I am a mechanical engineer and ensure you the clamping mechanism is the worst.
