Thudbuster ST

Suspension Seatpost

The latest generation Thudbuster ST is superior to its predecessor in every way.  Building on Thudbuster’s proven parallel linkage technology we have completely re-designed the seatpost for increased durability, a higher rider weight limit, and additional suspension travel, as well as ease of use through tool-free elastomer change and a single-bolt seat clamp design.

By improving on this already legendary design, we’re confident to say that the newest generation Thudbuster is the most advanced suspension seatpost ever made.

Accessibility

Thudbuster ST is now able to support riders up to 330lbs (150kg) and incorporates a tool-free, interchangeable elastomer system to quickly and easily adjust the seat post for a variety of rider weights.

Parallel Linkage Design

The Thudbuster Parallel Linkage technology stays in the direct path of the natural travel of the rear wheel. As a bump lifts the back of a bicycle, the rear wheel pushes up and forward into the rider. The Thudbuster works by compressing along the exact opposite path — down and rearward — absorbing force at the same rate. This results in a natural suspension feel without being overly active, and allows for more travel without compromising pedaling position.

Q & A

Is it possible to use the Thudbuster ST backwards so that I have more forward saddle position. My bike requires a forward saddle position (saddle sits forward of the center 2 cm ahead) Ray asked on February 20, 2024

Hello, our Thidbuster seat post is not designed to be run backwards as the seat post will not preform as it should when install backwards.

Will you ever bring back a XL version like there was available for the Gen3? The current maximum extension of 244mm is way too little for tall folks on a mtb with a 27.2 seatpost.. Tim asked on December 20, 2023

There is no plan to introduce an extra long version of the Thudbuster ST. The Thudbuster LT does offer a much taller saddle height though, with a maximum extension of 290mm. That is always our recommendation for riders in your situation. The additional comfort of the longer travel seatpost is noticable as well!

Why does my saddle keeps rotating around even though I've opened the system, greased, refitted and tightened it with a torque wrench ? Is it because of the rail width ? I find this issue very inconfortable since I like riding my bike leaning back on the saddle, not holding the handlebar. This forces me to stay on the handlebar and tighten my thighs to keep the saddle straight, thus greatly reducing the added benefit of a suspended seatpost. Aubry Moret asked on November 29, 2023

Sorry for the trouble! We have a revised clamp design that solves this issue - and we are happy to replace it for you under warranty! Please contact support@canecreek.com to arrange for your replacement clamp to be sent!

Love the Thudbuster on my gravel bike, Is there a version for my Cervelo S3? Or do I have to machine a mount for the brans specific seatpost? Joe Vondersaar asked on November 16, 2023

Due to the proprietary aero seatpost shape on that frame, none of our seatposts would be compatible. On the other hand, our eeSilk Stem would be a great option to really increase the comfort factor on this bike! Check out our stem option...

Hi, Im looking to buy either the thudbuster LT or ST, Im approx 115kg, this seems to either be the maximum weight on the firm elastomer or minimum on the extra firm, I want to get the best performance out of it, should I go with the firm or extra firm? John Tedbury asked on November 11, 2023

Based on your weight, I would suggest the Thudbuster ST, with the extra-firm elastomer. The weight limit for the LT is right at 250lbs, so we can guarantee a longer life and better performance out of the ST, which has a higher, 330lb weight limit.

I have a Trek Dual Sport 4, no rear suspension. I enjoy riding easy/intermediate trail, gravel, and pavement. A lower back injury restricted me to only pavement, so I was considering replacing it with a full suspension mtn bike when a friend suggested a Thudbuster (funny mtn bike salesman didn’t mention as option). Gave it a try. Shazam, back riding trails with a smile.

Even at tightened specs seat manages to to make a loud "click" sound and then will tilt downward at the nose of saddle while on rocky downhills. I have the rails set perfectly in middle so I feel this is due to a bad clamping design. Very disappointed. I am someone that owns multiple 110 headsets, eeSilk stem/bar, and another thudbuster (lt)...

Being an older (61) recreational rider, I was hesitant and skeptical that I would benefit from a product like the Thudbuster ST … but I’m glad I decided to get one. I ride 2-4x per week, 20-30 miles per ride.
I’ve been using the medium elastomer (based on my current weight) and it absorbs that ‘hard bounce’ from potholes, speed bumps, curbs, etc in a subtle way. It’s hard to imagine how a little ‘damping’ improves the overall comfort of the ride. I wish I had purchased one sooner.
