Chainring Spider

PUSH FORWARD

The spiders are optimized to fit eeWings cranks, adding more options for riders on our critically acclaimed titanium cranks. The spiders will allow direct-mount cranks, such as the eeWings, to accommodate 110 BCD chainrings in both 1x and 2x configurations. 2x drivetrain configurations allow for more gear options during a ride while 110 BCD 1x chainrings are typically available in larger sizes than their direct-mount counterparts – both of which are highly desirable to gravel, all-road and traditional road riders.

Q & A

What are the differences between the 1X and 2x interfaces? Is the offset the same? I want to use the titanium grey spider (which is a 2x) with a 1X chainring, will the result be the same? Gabriel asked on March 1, 2024

Hello, our 1x Sider is Virtual center of chainring - 7.5mm
2x Spider is between the big and little chainrings - roughly 7.5mm

Hello, our eeWings use a SRAM Direct Mount - 3 Bolt Interface

Where is PN BAI0078? Your search says it does not exist, yet it's referenced in your chainring chart here: https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/eeWings-All-Road-Chainring-Fitment-Matrix-2.pdf Seems the BAI0076/K is the same spider (2x 5-bolt). Patrick Leal asked on December 30, 2023

Sorry for the confusion! That chart is outdated at this point, and has clearly been overlooked in the updating of part numbers when we moved to a new inventory system. BAI0076K is the current version of BAI0078. They are the same thing.

I have a Shimano SLX 12sp drivetrain, want to use the eeWings, do I need this to keep using my chainring? Carlos asked on August 23, 2023

eeWings can use either a 3-bolt direct mount chainring, or, 5-bold 110BCD chainring when paired with our 1x or 2x Spider. Make sure your chain ring is either a 3-bolt SRAM Direct Mount, or a 5 bolt 110BCD to use with our spider.

I have been using the original Ergo Control bar ends on my touring bike for about 10 years, they are finally starting to wear out after 50,000 plus kilometers.
I was super excited to see these bar ends reissued because I am about to start a 2 year bike tour around the world.
I received a set of the new version today and can only give them 3 stars...
They have a different shape than the originals.
The new ones are very squared off on the outside of the palm, unlike the originals which contoured off softly downward.
The new finish is ok, I have to try them for a while to see if they are as comfortable and durable as the old ones.
If you know Oury grips, then that describes the tactile feel of the old ones, sticky without being sticky if you know what I mean.
Now for the worst part... the "universal lock system" simply means no lock system. The originals mated with locking grips which had the double lock system or you could simply put them next to any grips you happened to be using.
The new version doesn't have any mating lock system, so if you use grips that have a double lock, you will have to have a ring between the grip and the bar end. That is a bit disappointing.
The new Ergo Control bar ends are still the best bar ends of this type on the market, but missing some of the great features of the originals. Too bad...

I really like the concept of these, I found them a bit quirky, took a few tries to get the correct o ring for my bars.. I found that they can get a bit dislodged when hit, but that sorta makes sense as something rigid maky not work. I bought three sets, of the only one is still intact, one had the spreaders/clamping device break and another fellout, luckily I found it… I would say they are worth the cost, but, you might need to be careful with them.. Kind of defeats the purpose. Finally, Cane Creek makes great stuff, I have headsets, BB’s a fork all perfoming flawlessly.
