My personal recommendation (or experience) with Elastomers is to use the softer if you fall into two categories (e.g. you are 65kg+- and you could choose extra soft or soft, choose extra soft)

Extra Soft - 1 Dot - Rider under 140lbs
Soft - 2 Dots - Rider weight 120lbs - 170lbs
Medium (installed from factory) - 3 Dots - Rider weight 150lbs - 200lbs
Firm - 4 Dots - Rider weight 180lbs to 230lbs
Extra Firm - 5 Dots - Rider weight 210lbs to 250lb
