Q & A

Does this elastomer work with older versions of the post? Maybe 11 years old? Mine has the 2 cylindrical elastomers and they dry rotted and fell apart Dougie fresh asked on September 15, 2023

Yes we still offer Elastomers for previous versions of the Thudbuster... You will need to choose G3 (generation 3) elastomers.

I just ordered a LT seatpost, which elastomer comes stock? It’s for a 110 pound woman, so is the extra soft recommended for her weight? Michael Raisler asked on July 17, 2023

The Medium elastomer comes installed while additional elastomers can be purchased separately. The Medium is suitable for 150lb-200lb riders so for a 110lb rider you will need the Extra Soft elastomer #AAE0299-54. You can find the elastomer weight range in the Thudbuster instructions: https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Thudbuster_LT_Englsih_Web-1.pdf

How the heck do you change out the elastomer? This is super hard to do. Ali asked on June 10, 2023

It takes some patience and some hand strength but once you release the gold button you can wedge the large LT elastomer from the seat post. You can find these instructions online: https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Thudbuster_LT_Englsih_Web-1.pdf and we have a video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCU7b8NaXCw&t=196s

This is replacing the first version of the Redshift StopShock seatpost on my Salsa Cutthroat. I have been very happy with the performance of the Redshift but I needed to make my bike lighter and the eeSilk+ seatpost is almost half the weight than the StopShock. So far I'm happy with the choice but this one feels different, I don't have enough miles to fully comment. The eeSilk+ is more bouncy than the StopShock because the elastomer springs back faster than the spring in the StopShock. I'm 180 lbs, while the standard #5 is rated 150 to 210 lbs, I'm debating about trying the #7 elastomer but I'll give it more miles before.
