How do know when to replace? Robert Keppler asked on July 5, 2023

If the elastomers show a noticeable difference in softness over time, or if they are cracked, deformed, or damaged in anyway you can replace them. If using the correct elastomer for your riding weight the elastomers should last thousands of miles.

How do I choose the firmness of the elastomer for my eeSilk seatpost; is there a table with rider weights and road bumpiness? Gary Kelsberg asked on June 8, 2023

Yes we have a weight range chart on the eeSilk instructions: https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/AAE0311_eeSilk_Instructions_2022_02_25.pdf

Hi, I'm 176cm tall and about 180 pounds, what elastomer would you recommend for me with this seatpost? Angel asked on April 30, 2023

Hi Angel,

For a 180lb rider weight, I will recommend using the preinstalled #5 elastomer. The elastomer chart can be found in the eeSilk Installation Instructions - https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/AAE0305_eeSilk_Instructions_1_25_2022-1.pdf

This is replacing the first version of the Redshift StopShock seatpost on my Salsa Cutthroat. I have been very happy with the performance of the Redshift but I needed to make my bike lighter and the eeSilk+ seatpost is almost half the weight than the StopShock. So far I'm happy with the choice but this one feels different, I don't have enough miles to fully comment. The eeSilk+ is more bouncy than the StopShock because the elastomer springs back faster than the spring in the StopShock. I'm 180 lbs, while the standard #5 is rated 150 to 210 lbs, I'm debating about trying the #7 elastomer but I'll give it more miles before.
