Chainring Spider

PUSH FORWARD

The spiders are optimized to fit eeWings cranks, adding more options for riders on our critically acclaimed titanium cranks. The spiders will allow direct-mount cranks, such as the eeWings, to accommodate 110 BCD chainrings in both 1x and 2x configurations. 2x drivetrain configurations allow for more gear options during a ride while 110 BCD 1x chainrings are typically available in larger sizes than their direct-mount counterparts – both of which are highly desirable to gravel, all-road and traditional road riders.

Hello, our eeWings use a SRAM Direct Mount - 3 Bolt Interface

Where is PN BAI0078? Your search says it does not exist, yet it's referenced in your chainring chart here: https://canecreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/eeWings-All-Road-Chainring-Fitment-Matrix-2.pdf Seems the BAI0076/K is the same spider (2x 5-bolt). Patrick Leal asked on December 30, 2023

Sorry for the confusion! That chart is outdated at this point, and has clearly been overlooked in the updating of part numbers when we moved to a new inventory system. BAI0076K is the current version of BAI0078. They are the same thing.

I have a Shimano SLX 12sp drivetrain, want to use the eeWings, do I need this to keep using my chainring? Carlos asked on August 23, 2023

eeWings can use either a 3-bolt direct mount chainring, or, 5-bold 110BCD chainring when paired with our 1x or 2x Spider. Make sure your chain ring is either a 3-bolt SRAM Direct Mount, or a 5 bolt 110BCD to use with our spider.

What would the chainline be with this spider work with a 2X GRX front derailleur? Eric Axford asked on August 9, 2023

intresting there is no answer from cane creek.
what is the problem there is no spider for shimano, license fees??

adrian answered on October 23, 2023

Chainline is determined by several factors including the bike, crank being used, rear hub spacing/cassette, etc so please email Support@canecreek.com with more information and we'll do our best to help you.

Ben Rea answered on October 25, 2023 store manager

We do offer a direct mount, 5-bolt spider in 110BCD to be used with eeWings. Our spider is designed to be used with the eeWings crank and there are many other spiders that can be used with Shimano cranks. If you need to use eeWings with your Shimano drivetrain, you can use direct mount chain rings and chain rings from other manufacturers that are compatible with both eeWings, and your Shimano drive train. WolfTooth for example offers chain rings that are compatible with both.

Ben Rea answered on October 25, 2023 store manager

Based on my measurements of the cranks and spider I calculated a chain line of 42.5mm. Based on this determination I opted to use an Ultegra front derailleur instead of GRX and it is working perfectly.

I like this progressive spring for its bottom out support but not having to be too stiff to get that support.
