Our 40-Series headset is the entry point for performance, quality, and value. Drawing from the premium 110-Series design, the 40-Series includes all the features necessary for a durable, lightweight, and easy to use headset.
Highlights:
We make headsets easier. Our headsets use interchangeable parts and over forty configurations to meet almost every size need. Sold in straight and tapered assemblies or tops & bottoms, tops are generally available in either short (9mm) or tall (15mm) bearing covers to further customize the look of your cockpit setup.

Featuring a full alloy construction – sealed cartridge bearings, 6000 series alloy cups and materials, and a sealed steel crown race, the Forty series headset sets the standard for all other headsets to be judged.
The ZN40 bearings are corrosion-resistant zinc-coated, machined steel cartridge bearings with hardened steel balls, which vastly increases the longevity of the 40 series headsets.
Our patented Interlok spacer design provides solid interface between the top cover and spacer stack, meaning they “nest” together and into the top of the bearing cover, which helps minimize shifting under load while riding; and shave 25% in weight off a standard alloy spacer stack. Spacers sold separately
In 1992, we brought the Aheadset®, the original threadless headset, to market – kicking off a major change in the way bicycle frames and forks would be developed going forward.
The original design of that revolutionary headset is still found in almost all bikes on the market today.
I am not sure what dimensions you need but to install the headset you use a headset press and cup adapter. Install one cup at a time and press the headset until the cup is seated and the insertion sleeve on the cup is completely inside the head tube. There are no dimensions for how far to press the cup, you just press it until the cup is full seated in the head tube. Make sure you are using a cup adapter and installing one cup, straight into the head tube, one at a time with plenty of grease on both the cup and head tube. https://canecreek.com/product/headset-tools/
Ben Rea answered on June 12, 2023 store managerSo, I think the OP is seeking answers as to SIZE. Does it fit a 1" head tube or a 1 1/8"? And frankly, that's the same question I ask, as the answer is not readily apparent.
Jim answered on October 27, 2023The dimensions are in the headset description. EC34 = External Cup for 34mm ID (inner diameter) headtubes. 28.6 = 28.6mm which is the fork's stem clamp diameter. H16 = stack height of 16mm. EC34/30 = 34mm cup ID/30mm crown race seat diameter on the fork. This gives you all the dimensions and measurements you need to size the headset. You will need to verify the correct headset size for your bicycle by measuring the ID (inner diameter) of your bike's bare head tube (with no headset installed). You will likely need to remove the headset in the bike to do this, if the bike manufacturer does not list headset size on their website. You can also contact the bike manufacturer for headset size information.
If you are attempting to size and install your own headset, make sure you are very familiar with Headset sizing nomenclature aka S.H.I.S = Standardized Headset Identification System. You can learn more about S.H.I.S. and how to install a headset on our resources page at CaneCreek.com - https://canecreek.com/headset-support/
