Q & A

My understanding is there are 2 types 36/45 and 45/45. Is this the 36/45 or 45/45? I bought this product and it doesn't fit my 45/45 bearing so I guess it is 36/45, but how can I tell? How can I order the 45/45 crown race? Hugo asked on September 3, 2023

The +3mm crown races are designed for 36°x45° bearings. You can replace the 45°x45° bearing you have with a 36°x45° bearing and it will work great.

Often bearing angles are etched into the side of the bearings.

On your website you don't mention if a product is 36/45 or 45/45. I understand that I need matching stuff, but it is a lot easier if Cane Creek would mention 36/45 or 45/45 on every crown race and bearing. I cannot find this info anywhere.

Hugo answered on September 6, 2023

On the bearing product page the bearing contact angles are listed in the drop down menu for all bearing descriptions. https://canecreek.com/product/headset-bearings/

The crown races will always be for a 36°x45°, unless its noted in the description as being 45°x45°. All of our crown races that take 45°x45° bearings have that noted in the description. We'll see if we can add 36°x45° to the crown races as well to ease confusion.
